GATE 2013 - Brief Analysis by Mr B.Singh (CMD- Made Easy Education)
The analysis given below is by Mr B.Singh (Ex-IES),CMD of MADE EASY Education, renowned &

CIVIL Engineering :
-The question paper of Civil Engineering this year is among the toughest in the last 5
-years, the standard of questions is very good.
-Due to Fill in the blanks & Numerical data type questions scoring marks will be difficult.
-There are some questions which are lengthy & time consuming.
-There will be some effect on cut off marks to be higher due to ONLINE mode of
-examination this year as students are not yet familiar with online mode..
-Expected Cut Off Marks Range : 20-22 for general category
-Topper’s Marks are expected to be about 70.


Mechanical Engineering :
-The question paper has been standard but tougher than year 2012 examination.
-Production Engineering, HMT & Maths questions are tougher than last year.
-Overall cut off may be little lesser than 2012 & should be in range 24-26 for general
category.
-Toppers Marks are expected to be near about 80.
-Electrical Engineering:
-The paper has been easier than GATE 2012 but tougher than GATE 2011
-The weightage of Electrical Machines, Power System and Measurement is relatively
-less but these are the core subjects and have wide application in Electrical Engineering.
-Subjects like Network, Control System, Digital Electronics, Signals & Systems were more
scoring.
-Reasoning, Maths & English was relatively easier than 2012 & scoring.
-Toppers Marks are expected to be near about 75.

Computer Science Engineering :
-The question paper has been a standard one but better than 2011 & 2012.
-Computer Organisation & Operating Systems questions were mixed & moderate which
made the paper a little complex.
-Cut off should be little lower than 2012 & will be in range of 26-28 for general category.
-Overall a balanced & standard paper.
-Toppers Marks are expected to be near about 85.
-Electronics Engineering:
-The question paper standard one not very tough not very lengthy.
-Communication System, Control System & Analog Electronics are given good weightage
which are core subjects of Electronics also.
-Reasoning, Maths & English was easier & scoring.
-Cut Off may increase than last year and should be in range in 26- 28 for general
category
-Toppers Marks are expected to be near about 75.

Instrumentation Engineering:
-The question paper standard one not very tough not very lengthy.
-Transducers and Control Systems are given good weightage.
-Reasoning, Maths & English was easier & scoring.
-Cut Off may increase than last year and should be in range in 25- 26 for general
category
-Toppers Marks are expected to be near about 70.

Electronics Engineering:

-The question paper standard one not very tough not very lengthy.
